As I was watching the news this evening, there was a story about the water in Ogden. Has there ever been a GOOD news story about drinking water? Turns out it could be worse: the water is stinky and may taste funny, but its still safe to drink. I guess the Pine View reservoir is having a surge in its algae population. Glad to know my water is fresh from the mountains. Hopefully they don't bother removing the wildlife feces or rotting dead things either. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Anyway, it has helped me crystallize some thoughts on my temporary home.
What it is:
O- one-of-a-kind (luckily)
G- ghetto
D- dilapidated
E- Espanol
N- near Salt Lake
What it is not:
O- opulent
G- good-smelling (there is a dog food factory nearby)
D- drug-free
E- envy of Northern Utah
N- near enough to Salt Lake
Next time you get to hear about our search for a new home in Ogden. Trust me, it will be a must read.
Don't forget goat-infested.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry...it'll be all downhill (or uphill? Whichever one means things will improve.) At least when we're all away at medical school we'll be living in a far-off mysterious ghetto instead. At least most people won't exactly already know what our ghettos are like.
ReplyDeleteTear....you're making fun of my hood. Of course, I technically grew up in North Ogden...a really pretty area that smells like fresh blossoms rather than dogfood. However, everything you said is true....which is why I always specify that I am from NORTH Ogden....they're really like different states! ;) But come on, don't tell me that you hate having a Betos-ish eatery on every corner....
