Between the River and Me

Last night Amanda, Shambray, Sham's mom, and I went to the Tim McGraw concert. It was so much fun!

Amanda has been house sitting for her aunt so I spent Thursday night over there and then we spent all day Friday getting ready for the concert (hard life, I know). The concert was at Usana, where there is basically only one entrance and exit, so we planned to leave super early (Last time we went to a concert at Usana, we didn't factor in traffic and ended up missing Carrie Underwood). We got to Usana around 5 and then had to stand around for an hour before the doors opened. Once the doors opened Amanda sprinted around to the grass. She gets all the credit for our sweet seats. Sham and Nadine joined us and we had fun just talking and hanging out before the concert. Nadine was nice enough to be our photographer for the impromptu photo shoot we decided to have.

Tim's (yes, we're on a first name basis) opening acts were quite good. The first one was Halfway to Hazard. They were a lot of fun. Jason Aldean was the other one. I must admit I have now purchased both of these acts cds, but if you don't like country you probably won't like them.

Then came the best part. TIM MCGRAW! I had never been to one of his concerts so I was super excited. We had so much fun just dancing around and singing. He has so many good songs and gets the crowd into it. He even played a few new songs that will be on his next cd. He played for two hours but it honestly seemed like 20 minutes.

Then came the best part - the traffic to get out of the parking lot. Since we arrived so early we were able to park really close to the amphitheater. This roughly translated into us being in the back of the line to leave. We didn't move for 1 hour- honestly, there is no exaggeration there. We were also almost killed by gunshot when I refused to let some thugs cut in front of me when they had just pulled up, while there were about 5 cars that had been waiting ahead of them to get into line. I think Amanda and I are still trying to figure out what these guys were doing at a Tim McGraw concert in the first place. I did learn not to tell someone off when you have to sit there with them glaring and revving their lame engine at you for 45 minutes (maybe the gun shot comment was an exaggeration). Overall, it was a fantastic night and I'm glad that Tim McGraw was my last Utah concert (at least for a few years) and that I got to go with my best friends.

  1. It was so much fun! I am glad I got to go with you to your last Utah concert! I really don't like talking about it because it makes me so sad. You have no idea how much I am going to miss you.
By the way I know that you weren't making up the whole not moving for an hour thing. We were stuck forever too and we weren't in the very back. Oh well. It was still fun.
