All-American Girl

I went to the best concert ever on Thursday.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD.

I tried to see her once when she was an opening act for someone at Usana. Due to the fantastic design of the amphitheater, I was sitting in the car entrance line for an hour and a half and missed hearing her. When I saw that she was going on tour this year and was coming to Reading (for you non-PAers, that is pronounced "Reding" not "Reading." You will get dirty looks if it's pronounced incorrectly), which is about an hour away, I knew I had to go.

I finagled to leave work a little early and picked up my concert-buddy Denise, as my original concert-buddy Scott was in Las Vegas. We drove to Reading, discussing the lives of medical student wives and the upcoming woes of medical resident wives (in case you're wondering, I'm not really looking forward to that). My trusty GPS got us right where we needed to be with a little spare time, so we combed the sreets of downtown Reading to find a suitable eating establishment. I won't lie, the place was a little ghetto, so we settled on an Italian pizzaria, where, oddly enough, the owners and operators only spoke Spanish. It was kind of confusing.

We wrapped up dinner, hoping we had missed the opening acts (Sons of Sylvia and Craig Morgan). Don't worry, we didn't. Sons of Sylvia was...interesting. The main guy has a good voice but I think he's trying too hard (when he's singing, it looks like he is having a b.m.). I didn't know who Craig Morgan was but I recognized at least 5 of the songs he sang from the radio.

Finally around 9:15 Carrie came out. Her set list was awesome - it included Cowboy Casanova, Just a Dream, Some Hearts, All-American Girl, So Small, Last Name, I told you so, Someday When I Stop Loving You, Quitter, Mama's Song, Change, Undo It, Temporary Home, What Can I Say, Before He Cheats, Jesus take the Wheel (with How Great Thou Art mixed in), and my favorite song, I Know You Won't.

She sounded amazing the entire night. Obviously, from American Idol, we all know she can sing live, but she still sounded better than I expected. Her outfit changes were awesome. The overall show was just awesome. I highly recommend going to see her. It was worth every cent of my 55 dollars and only getting 4 hours of sleep and working the next day.

Singing at "The Grand Ole Opry" with Randy Travis projected on the screen.

She came out in a blue truck that went around the arena. It was only about 10 feet away from us.

This was my favorite backdrop.

  2. I am sooooooooooo jealous! It was funny when I told Ryan about how Scott said to have me come out now Ryan said, "Yeah you should. That would be fun for you guys." Then I said where am I going to pull that money from to just fly out there. He laughed. I wished I would have listened to him! Maybe next time! Glad you had fun!

  3. I am totally jealous! I would love to see her in concert. Although, it may be a bit awkward...I tend to cry when people can sing well and she is AMAZING! So, I'd probably end up a teary mess. ANYWAY, I am excited you got to go!
