Nature

Scott and I decided that we needed to do something fun before Summer was over. We didn't have enough mullah to spend some quality time at the beach, so we opted for camping. We got a lot of camping stuff for wedding gifts but hadn't had the chance to use it. We stopped by Bass Pro Shop and picked up the few things we needed - a tent and dutch oven. We looked like complete losers in the dutch oven aisle. I had to call my dad because we didn't know what to do. After talking to him for 5 minutes, I was an expert. He even told me I could find a lot of good recipes online. I love it when my dad encourages me to use the internet :)

We went to Gifford Pinchot State Park. It is only 30 miles away from our house and really close to where a bunch of my coworkers live. One of them assured me that if I got lost on our hike I could call her and she would come pick me up. We got there Friday evening and set up the tent. Scott also got a sweet fire going, which was impressive considering it had rained for two days straight.

On Saturday we went on a 8.5 mile walk...I mean hike around the lake. It was such a weird trail - on a few parts you had to walk along side the road.

Scott is so nice. He always volunteers to carry the bag filled with drinks and snacks. He tries to hide the pink Nike sign, but I think he forgot to turn it around this time and I may have not pointed it out to him.

Scott found this thick vine thing and, naturally, had to clime up it. He sent me "over there" to take pictures.

We also went canoeing. I hadn't ever been before. At first I was kind of freaked out by how close you are to the water, but it was fun. We canoed until my little (weak) arms couldn't take anymore.

I think my favorite part was eating food cooked in the dutch oven. It was so tasty, especially the peach cobbler (and I don't even like peaches) with homemade ice cream. Mmm!

  4. Wow! I'm impressed! Mark never did get me to go camping, but he took the older kids without me a couple of times, while I stayed home with the little ones. It looks like you had lots of fun. Sheila
