My new favorite thing

We lucked out and were able to get into student housing. Scott loves being a three minute walk away from school and I LOVE that the helicopter pad is 20 yards away from our apartment (that's only a little bit sarcastic). I didn't enjoy hearing it in the middle of the night for the first few weeks we were here but now I'm used to it.
On Sunday a family in our ward invited us over for dinner. Somehow we got on the subject of the helicopters and they told us that you can call and hear who's coming in. It's a recording and it doesn't give any personal information- it will say a 52-year old male, the accident, and stats. It's neat. The most common accident I've heard involves motorcycles, usually without helmets. The strangest one was a 30-something female who fell of her horse while mowing the lawn (maybe she is a Mennonite?) and she lost a ton of blood (pressure was 60). My medical skills are increasing almost as much as Scott's. While I like calling and hearing what's going on, I know these accidents are serious and every time I hear the helicopter I am so thankful that no one I know has been seriously injured. Sometimes it's depressing to hear it when it comes so often.

  1. That is really neat and I hear ya that it is a blessing it is not someone you know. Congrats with everything and I hope you had a great b-day!
