Independence

"I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in providence, for the illumination of the ignorant and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth."
- John Adams

This past week Scott and I have been watching the HBO series John Adams (it just so happened we are watching it around the 4th of July). It has been awesome to see what went into the founding of America and the men and women that sacrificed their entire lives toward fighting for freedom and then ensuring that it would be around for generations (for some reason I didn't really get that out of AP History). I'm so grateful that I was born here and have had the
opportunities that I have had and that there are endless possibilities still to come. The 4th of July was always just a day off for going to the parade, having a bbq, swimming, and, of course, fireworks. Tomorrow night we'll be watching fireworks in New York Harbor by the Statue of Liberty and I think I'll have a greater appreciation of what the 4th of July really means.

Here is a pretty fantastic picture I dug up of me and my cousins Trevor and Whitney in front of the Liberty Bell.

Please ignore the triangle hair (I was an awkward teen).
