Last week Sham and Ryan came out to visit. I'm pretty sure that they visited every major city within a 2-hour radius of Hershey. I was able to take a few days off of work and hang out with them.
We went to Hershey Park...

...Chocolate World...
...and Washington D.C.
While we were walking to the White House police started to block off a road. About 5 minutes later there were a ton of sirens, followed by this Limo.
There were also a lot of protesters.
We went to the top of the Washington Monument. It was really cool inside. One thing I didn't know before I went is that stones were donated from every state and different countries. You can get a glimpse of these on the elevator ride down.

Ryan took this shot. He has mad skillz.
We saw the World War II memorial. It was really neat because there were a lot of veterans on a tour. They had pictures around their neck of what they looked like when they served in the war.

There is a star for every person that was killed. The description said "Here We Mark the Price of Freedom." Very sobering. We went to the Vietnam War Memorial.
We stopped by the Lincoln Memorial.
We also went to the Holocaust Memorial Museum. It literally made me sick. I can't believe that human beings would do that to each other.
We went to the Smithsonian Institute. They have a ton of museums; unfortunately, we were only to visit the National Museum of American History.
A head from the ruins in Tenochtitlan. One of the Spanish classes I took in college was devoted to ancient mesoamerican cultures, so it was cool to see something I had studied about.
And my favorite: The First Ladies Exhibit.
And finally, we checked out the Capitol building.
I had so much fun and am so happy they were able to come visit! Now, if only this could happen more often!

I KNOW! If only we could come out there more. I LOVED LOVED LOVED seeing you and maybe just maybe we might have to move out there! I miss you already! Can't wait to see you in December! Thanks for entertaining us.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note.....I finished your honeymoon scrapbook!
It looks like you guys had a great time. I was just thinking that Lance and I needed to get to D.C. It's been forever since we've been there.
