Verona

Ah, fair Verona! This was my favorite city that we visited. I loved it! When I think of Italy in my head, Verona is what I see. It is surrounded by a river on three sides and you can still see parts of the old city wall that protected the fourth side.

Scott lived here for 8ish months on his mission and is really familiar with the city. It was nice not to have to use a map. We stayed at the Hotel Accademia. It was so wonderful, especially by European standards (it has a/c and the bathroom was larger than an airplane bathroom)! If you go during the off season you should stay there; it is probably pretty pricey during peak season.

After we dropped our luggage off our first order of business was to go to a kabob place that Scott loves. I was pretty sure he was over exaggerating when he talked about it but he wasn't. It was so delish and the tastiest food I had the whole trip, including on our cruise. We ate there a few times during our two day stay.

i'm in heaven!

After we walked around, got some gelato (this happened at least once a day in Italy) and saw the sights.

Verona also has an arena. Though it is smaller than the Colosseum it is still used today, mainly for operas. We were there before the season started so we'll have to go back to see one! While we were they were setting up for the Italian Idol finals which were going to be held there that weekend.
